Diana Meneses Cunha has always been a creative person. Yet, she only found a true love for fibers at the age of 40. With a degree in International Relations and with an experience of 20 years in the banking business, Diana felt the need to set her creativity free and after learning the skills with two internationally known weavers, in 2015 she developed her own style, giving a contemporary style to ancient techniques such as weaving, macrame and embroidery.

In early 2016 she created her own brand “Oficina166”. By the end of 2017 she moved from her home studio to a bigger space with a full-time team working with her at the studio.

In April 2018 Diana had her first solo exhibition at Galeria do Museu da Carris (curated by Patricia Pires de Lima) and in July 2019 at the interior design store Puracal, both in Lisbon.

Diana is constantly looking for new materials and creating different designs. Her portfolio goes from decorative tapestries (mixing weaving and macrame techniques) and big natural woven branches, to lampshades, photograph embroidery and outdoor woven furniture, using nautical cord.

Each piece is unique and has its own story. Diana’s pieces are also known for their large scale and size.

Although accepting commissions from private clients (from Portugal, Luxembourg, Belgium, USA or Angola), Diana’s main clients come from the hospitality business, interior designers and companies. You can find some of her art pieces at the well known Bairro Alto Hotel (Lisbon), White Exclusive Suites & Villas (The Azores), Hotel Albatroz (Cascais) and in several boutique hotels and Restaurants, both in Portugal and abroad, such as Tsukiji by Chef Paulo Morais in Lisbon and Blanco in Belgium.

Teaching these techniques is Diana’s mission at her Oficina 166 studio. Weaving, macrame and embroidery on paper sold-out courses, workshops and creative retreats are organized all year round. Workshops for companies (team buildings) or for organized groups of tourists traveling to Portugal and wanting to experience something different and special.
